You may have read our recent blog that discusses the high cost of water damage and what you can do to help prevent this problem that affects over 11 million U.S. homeowners each year. At WaterCop, we’ve developed a solution to help these homeowners rest easier with a simple and effective leak detection resource that utilizes an automatic-shut-off valve installed on the water supply line of a home or commercial building.
It’s not lost on us that while we dedicate our workdays to helping homeowners protect their investments from water damage, others in the world are facing a water challenge of a different kind: not having clean water for hydration and sanitation purposes in their daily lives. Isn’t it interesting that this same water that can cause catastrophic flooding and damage is also a crucial source of our everyday lives that many of us take for granted?
We believe clean water should be available to everyone.
Over 2 billion people lack safe drinking water and more than twice this number don’t have access to clean sanitation facilities. That means three in 10 people worldwide don’t have usable, readily available water at home. Poor water quality and sanitation conditions are linked to the transmission of diseases that inhibit daily life and can even result in death. It’s a real problem that may not always be top of mind to those of us not faced with these challenges.
The World Health Organization, the United Nations agency responsible for promoting public health, has set ambitious goals for ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for the world population. This includes achieving universal and equitable access to safe water and sanitation systems by 2030.
As a socially conscious company focused on a different type of water challenge, WaterCop is committed to calling attention to issues like this, when we can, to spotlight opportunities to help those in our nation and around the world who are in need. By helping to raise awareness of challenges that are affecting our population, it is our hope that we can collectively make a difference, even if it is by taking small, positive actions.
